Mitchie Torres, a talented but unsure teenager played by Demi Lovato, hopes to make it big as a singer-songwriter by attending prestigious Camp Rock, despite the fact that her hard-working parents lack the funds to send her. When her mom (Maria Canals Barerra) takes a job cooking at the camp, Mitchie gets her chance to test her talent against the campers, in between her shifts working in the kitchen. Soon, she meets kindred spirit Caitlyn (Alyson Stoner) and contends with resident diva Tess Tyler (Meaghan Jette Martin), all the while trying to conceal her working-class roots. Mitchie's foil comes in the disgruntled form of Shane Gray (Joe Jonas), a teen rocker who is forced by his band mates to return to Camp Rock in order to get his ego in check and to rediscover his love for performing. Shy Mitchie and famous Shane seem destined for a lasting bond, until a jealous Tess decides to sabotage their growing friendship.
Will Mitchie make her mark at Camp Rock and help Shane reignite his passion for music? More importantly, will Mitchie find a way to overcome her insecurities, step out of the kitchen and into the spotlight? Sing along, root for the underdog and watch these talented teens truly rock out.
